Yoga classes

   

Yoga deepens the relaxation response and creates an overall sense of well-being. The combination of physical postures (āsana) and breathing exercises (prāṇāyāma) stretches and strengthens the body, clears the mind and brings a greater understanding of self.

 

Wear comfortable clothing and avoid eating for two hours before class. Please bring a mat. If you need a mat, you can buy one at the studio.

In these classes, students may be given different adaptations. This accommodates the needs of beginners and those with injuries and at the same time allows more experienced students to go deeper.

 

Open Yoga is appropriate for all levels: movement, breath, relaxation adapted for all.

 

Discover Yoga/Healthy Back is a class for beginning students. Stabilize, strengthen and maintain a healthy back through gentle therapeutic adaptations of postures. This class also welcomes pre-natal.

 

Yoga Intermediate/Advanced allows you to deepen your practice by exploring advanced postures and prāṇāyāma (breath techniques). Tools such as sound and chanting may be used.

 

Pre-Natal Yoga is yoga to open the body, breath work to relax the energy system and calm the mind, and will add to the experience of giving birth

 

Gentle Yoga: Through movement and breath, this class will gently assist you to strengthen your bones, to loosen your joints, and to lengthen your muscles, as well as create a sense of relaxation and a quiet mind. The needs and abilities of each student are respected in an atmosphere free of expectations. Great for beginners as well as more experienced yoga practitioners looking for a relaxing practice.

 

Chair Yoga:  is suited for people with limited flexibility and/or injuries.  It works to increase flexibility, strength, balance and circulation.

 

Yoga and Weights:  This class incorporates the use of weights to increase resistance and strength training.

 

Specialty Yoga Classes by invitation of the teacher, Fran Ubertini.  In addition to asana, these classes may incude breathing techniques (pranayama), sound or chanting and meditation.  These classes are designed for students with experience who would like to deepen their practice.

 

Yoga Sūtra Chant and Study is a closer look at the classic text Yoga Sūtras of Patañjali. The sutras are chanted and discussed. No experience necessary.
